Teaterskeppet is a passenger ship that offers unique possibilities for your corporate events. The ships’ dining rooms can seat 286 guests. The ship also has large outdoor areas, a restaurant kitchen, three bars and a sunroof over the dining area.

What is known as Teaterskeppet today was built as a fishing vessel in 1959 in Viano do Castelo, Portugal. Her name at the time was Vågbingur, roughly meaning “Wave Boy”. Vågbingur did her first 20 years of service in the North Sea and the Arctic Ocean, with the Faeroe Islands as her home harbour. Sometimes she made longer journeys to the South Atlantic and the Pacific.

The 55-man crew worked in shifts, fishing 24 hours a day and six months at a time. Life onboard was hard and dangerous. Those who weren’t careful during stormy weather could easily be washed overboard. Once the boat had been stopped to rescue someone who had fallen into the sea, it was usually too late. In 1982 the ship was sold to Sweden, where she was bought by the shipping company Sommar & Sol, led by Olle Carlens. Now began the long process of turning Olle’s dream of a floating theatre into reality!    www.teaterskeppet.se
